Before Aishwarya Rai Bachchan became the Bachchan family’s bahu, she shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in several movies. One of them was Khakee, an action thriller that also starred Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and Tusshar Kapoor. The cast, including Big B, Aishwarya, Akshay, and Tusshar, were shooting for the film in Nashik in 2003. At that time, an accident happened on sets, which left Aishwarya injured. On the set, a stuntman lost control of his car and rammed the vehicle into Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s chair. Aishwarya was not able to move, so Akshay Kumar helped her and pulled the car away. The actress was immediately rushed to the hospital. At that time, the accident was widely covered in the media. Amitabh Bachchan spoke to the actress’ mother and helped her get back to Mumbai in Anil Ambani’s private plane. There is no landing facility in Nashik, so they took permission from Delhi to land Ambani’s place at the military base. The base was 45 minutes away from the hospital where Aishwarya was admitted. At that time, Amitabh Bachchan was upset with the way the media termed the accident ‘trivial’ and said it was blown out of proportion. About the same, Big B expressed his disappointment and told Rediff, ‘Everyone is brushing it off as a small incident blown out of proportion. For two nights I couldn’t sleep. To see this happen in front of my eyes! Her back was lacerated with cactus thorns.” Further in this entertainment news, the Mohabbatein actor stated that Aishwarya’s bone in the rear portion of her feet was broken and she suffered severe cuts. He was miffed that her injury was reported as trivial.
