Grace debuted on February 5, 2016, with the single “I’m Fine.” Before that, she was a trainee. She previously saw a rapper under YG Entertainment. When things didn’t work out with him, her trainee friend introduced her to a boy group member.

So, back when was a little trainee girl, my trainee friend introduced me to this guy who later ended up debuting under YG as a rapper, but he left a long time ago. And things didn’t work out between me and him, so she just introduces me to somebody else. This guy already back then debuted with a boy group.

First, Grace and the idol texted, and she didn’t like his texting style because it was cringe. Still, she decides to give him a chance by meeting him in person.

Red flag: he was the cringiest person while texting. I haven’t even met this guy, but he was like love-bombing me through text. You’re young, you don’t know anything. So, I just decided to give him a chance to see him in person.

Grace was pleasantly surprised when she met him, and he was even more handsome in real life. His personality was even better, too. She also clarified that the idol and his group were not well-known. Grace had not known them before dating the idol.

I honestly don’t know think anybody knew them. I didn’t even know them. I met him in person, I was actually shocked because I was like, ‘Oh, wow. He looks so much better than his photos.’  Like he was super tall. I thought he was pretty handsome in real life. In real life, he seemed very normal and caring and things like that, but during texting, he was just so weird.

Still, his texting was odd. He would even refer to the friend who introduced them as “sister-in-law.”

After our first meeting, he would text my trainee friend, that introduced me to him, and call her sister-in-law. Again, super cringy over text and love-bombing me all the time, and we only met up like three times.

After the third date, the idol asked Grace to be his girlfriend, which she felt was too early. She explained that now she knows that Korean guys will often ask the girl to be their girlfriend and “go farther” (sleep together) by this time.

This is the thing I’ve noticed with a lot of young Korean guys. By the third date, they ask you to be their girlfriend, which is super early. And only by the second-third date, they will imply that they will want to go farther with you. I’m just not the type to do that. And by third date, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said, ‘No. Well, I think we should get to know each other more,’ meaning I was positive about this relationship.

Grace rejected him, asking to get to know each other more first. He accepted it then, but she noticed he became more distant, basically ghosting her.

He seemed to be pretty okay with it in person, but ever since then, he completely started to like almost ghost me. I never called him, but he would call me ‘babe’ in Korean all the time. It’s like only the third time we’ve met. Now, as an inexperienced woman, I’m like, I don’t understand what’s going on.

They had one more date, though. Grace suggested he ask her to be his girlfriend again, to which she accepted this time.

But it took some time, but we met for the fourth time, and that’s when I was like, ‘Oh my God. Maybe … this is a thing. Like I should just say yes.’ And I asked him, ‘Hey, like why don’t you ask me again to be your girlfriend?’ I was thinking, ‘There’s something wrong with me. Maybe I was going too slow.’ So, he asked me again, ‘Hey, do you want to be my girlfriend?’

Yet, the idol completely ghosted her after that.  He had not indicated he didn’t like her in person.

And I think I said yes, but since then on, he completely ghosted me and disappeared! Yet, at the fourth date that we met, he was totally like back in love with me, nothing happened, and I’ve noticed this with like most of the Korean men that I’ve dated in my 20s in Korea. Maybe I wasn’t born for the modern dating world. I don’t know, but I do think it is kinda low-key true that Korean men love-bomb a lot in the beginning and then just suddenly ghost you.

So, Grace warned young women who are dating in Korea to be careful. Many men do not have pure intentions.

Anyway, if you’re in your 20s, be careful out there. At least I date for a purpose. There’s many people who just wanna get in your pants and love bombs, so be careful.
