Shannon Sharpe, the former tight end and current podcaster, is being sued for $50 million by a woman who claims to be his ex-girlfriend, NBC News reports. The unidentified plaintiff, whom the suit refers to as Jane Doe, is suing Sharpe for assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery — claiming he intentionally inflicted emotional distress and filmed them having sex without her knowledge. Jane Doe is being represented by Micah Nash and Tony Buzbee, who is known for representing dozens of accusers in their lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs. “After many months of manipulating and controlling Plaintiff — a woman more than 30 years younger than he — and repeatedly threatening to brutally choke and violently slap her, Sharpe refused to accept the answer no and raped Plaintiff, despite her sobbing and repeated screams of ‘no,’” the suit filed on April 20 says, per NBC News.
The lawsuit alleges that Sharpe and the plaintiff were in a consensual, “rocky” relationship for nearly two years until he accidentally livestreamed himself having sex with another woman. When she attempted to “pull away” by not answering her phone or telling him where she was, the suit alleges that Sharpe relentlessly dogged her. The suit claims that, in October 2024, “Shannon Sharpe violently sexually assaulted and anally raped Plaintiff two different times in Las Vegas, Nevada, blatantly ignoring her requests for him to stop. He did it again in January,” per Front Page Sports. Sharpe is the host of the podcast Club Shay Shay, which was reported on April 19 to be seeking a $100 million podcast deal.
