The next 50 years of Saturday Night Live are starting this fall… Or at the very least, this is confirmation that Studio 8H isn’t having a vacancy anytime soon. SNL returns to NBC for its 51st season on October 4, and there has been no confirmation on what this means for the cast; no departure announcements have been made by any of the players. Most departure news happens either right before the end of the season or a month or two before the next season starts. So we probably won’t hear about the new or leaving players until around September.
It’s a similar situation for who will host or perform in the first few episodes; we probably won’t know until September. Sigh! But that doesn’t mean we won’t be spending the next few months trying to place our bets. As for future hosts to kick off the new season, we have a few ideas on who should take the stage:
-Glen Powell (but he has to run the entire time)
-Celine Song, but she’s there to promote Zootopia 2
-June Squibb <3
-James Cameron pulling double duty, but instead of being a musical guest, he’s doing a lecture about deep-sea diving
