Typically, Lana Del Rey bucks trends. But her country album has taken so long, it slots in with some of the biggest releases of the past few years: Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion, and everything Morgan Wallen has released. Del Rey finally confirmed that her next album, the country one, will be titled Stove and released in January 2026. And, yes, she’s well aware that Stove will be accidentally on trend. “Eight years ago, when I was looking to make a country record, no one else was thinking about country,” Del Rey said in an August 26 W Magazine cover story. “Now everyone is going country! I’ve asked myself, ‘Should I retire all my snakeskin boots? Should I put my cowboy hats in storage?’”

To be fair, Del Rey has taken a while. She first said she was making a country album, then called Lasso, in January 2024, at the Billboard and NMPA Songwriter Awards. “If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. It’s happening,” she said at the time. “That’s why Jack [Antonoff] has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years.” Then, in October 2024, she said she didn’t know when the album would be released: “We’ll see.” In November, she said it would be called The Right Person Will Stay, and that it would be out in May. She released one single, “Henry, Come On,” but then pushed the release date back again. Unless she pushes it to the back burner again, Stove is coming in hot.
