Oi, Mista! It’s Time for More Peaky Blinders

Lest you think six seasons and a movie is enough, Steven Knight will return with (at least) two new seasons of a Peaky Blinders spinoff series coming to Netflix sometime after the Peaky Blinders movie is released next year, per Deadline. Cillian Murphy will executive-produce the series, but it’s yet to be determined whether his character (and our friend), Tommy Shelby, will be back with the Blinder Boys. He’s nearly died at least three times a season and probably will nearly die five times in the movie, so who knows how many sequel series he can yet survive. The spinoff show will revolve around “a new generation of our beloved Birmingham clan,” which maybe means we’re getting Peaky Blinders: The College Years (or maybe “uni” years). The logline places Knight’s new show in 1953, where “Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. The race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger, with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”

Sounds like some typical Shelby-family drama: money, blood, turmoil, and strife. Will they ever settle down? Have one chill decade to listen to music and drink at the pub? Maybe the 1970s, but probably not any time sooner.
