She said that two people howsoever madly in love would be wise to co-habit together before taking the plunge into marriage. She said that living together exposes a person to the best and worst side of their partners. Zeenat Aman said such knowledge can save people a lot of heartbreak and turbulence later on. Many millennials and Gen-Z netizens hailed the actress for her progressive thought on relationships. But her contemporary Mumtaz said that Zeenat Aman should speak more carefully, especially when India is a traditional country. Mukesh Khanna slams Zeenat Aman for supporting with live-in relationships

After Mumtaz and Saira Banu, Shaktimaan star Mukesh Khanna said that live-in relationships were not recognized in our culture and history. He said it has its roots in Western civilization. He said that Zeenat Aman has led a life driven by western values. He told Dainik Jagran, “It is not acceptable for a boy and girl to know each other through marriage, if they live together as husband and wife, imagine what happens to them. Those saying such things should speak thoughtfully.” Mumtaz had also heavily criticized Zeenat Aman for her comments.

Mumtaz said that Zeenat Aman should be more careful about what she is advocating on social media. She said she might be enjoying being a ‘cool aunty’ on social media, but she should understand our society. Mumtaz said that though Zeenat Aman knew Mazhar Khan for years, her marriage was far from blissful. She said her married life was ‘living hell’.
