Kim Kardashian has been teasing that she’ll be practicing law, and while everybody thought her new career would be shown on a TV show, it’s a bit surprising to learn that the show will be on a fictional one. Ryan Murphy, executive producer of American Horror Story, created a new show for Hulu featuring Kardashian as a lawyer, and she’s soon headed to the courtroom. Here’s everything we know about All’s Fair, including a new teaser trailer, first-look photos, and when we’re finally going to see Kim K., esquire.
How does Kim look in court?
“Tell us your story,” Kim says, staring intently at her client. She drives fancy cars, takes private planes, and wears designer clothes — how is this different from The Kardashians? Well, she and her crack legal team appear to do whatever it takes to get justice for the women they represent. Cue the creepy rendition of “Cell Block Tango.”
All’s Fair will be Murphy’s first show since leaving Netflix for 20th Television, which is owned by Disney. The show, written by Jon Robin Baitz (Feud: Capote vs. the Swans), will star Kardashian as a successful L.A. divorce attorney at an all-female practice. A synopsis from Hulu describes the legal team: “Fierce, brilliant, and emotionally complicated, they navigate high-stakes breakups, scandalous secrets, and shifting allegiances — both in the courtroom and within their own ranks. In a world where money talks and love is a battleground, these women don’t just play the game — they change it.” Probably the sexiest procedural since Murphy’s Nip/Tuck, the show will feature lawyer Kim wearing miniskirts and being self-reliant — so basically it’s the Futurama parody of Ally McBeal. With both American Horror Story: Delicate and the recently announced film The Fifth Wheel, Kardashian’s hard pivot into acting is moving right along. And if the title All’s Fair doesn’t hit the way Hulu wants it to, we have a few alts:
— Blonde Ambition
— Nobody (But This One Lawyer) Wants to Work Anymore
— Brand Expansion: The Series
— Run Right Back to Me
Who are Kim K.’s partners-in-law?
Glenn Close will play a partner in Kardashian’s all-women L.A. law firm. Kardashian will be the law firm’s owner and technically this diva’s boss. Only in L.A. It’s a return to legal drama for Damages star Close. Remember Damages? Great show. Both women serve as executive producers, alongside Murphy, Baitz, and Joe Baken.
Halle Berry was originally slated to play another partner but has since left the project (per Deadline). This news came only a week after her spot on the show was announced.
Are any Ryan Murphy regulars coming along?
Boy howdy, there sure are! Variety is reporting that Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Naomi Watts (all Murphyverse alums) are joining the cast of All’s Fair. All three ladies are getting EP credit alongside Close and Kardashian. Teyana Taylor is also being brought into the fold. According to Variety, none of the women are directly replacing Halle Berry. Rather, new roles have been written around the stars. Lastly, we need one token man, and that’s model and actor Matthew Noszka.
Are pap shots admissible in court?
Kim K. has been papped shooting a lot of juicy scenes for the show. On February 12, Kardashian was caught shooting a wedding scene in Malibu. TMZ pegged her betrothed as Noszka. It seems likely this marriage doesn’t last for even a whole episode, as Kardashian was spotted doing Lemonade-style vehicular damage. We smell an opening montage explaining why Kim’s focusing on divorce law.
When is court in session?
All’s Fair comes to Hulu this fall.
