How Lady Gaga Spent Her Wednesday

Wednesday cast a spell on Lady Gaga. Three year’s after Nevermore Academy’s killer dance became synonymous with Gaga’s Born This Way banger “Bloody Mary,” the pop enchantress guest-stars in Wednesday season two as the ghoulishly fabulous Professor Rosaline Rotwood in episode six. While Gaga is only in part two of the season for a brief moment (ghosts tend to disappear), she causes a fair amount of mayhem.

After losing her psychic powers in part one, Wednesday’s grandmother — an absolutely fabulous Joanna Lumley — encourages her to visit Rosaline, an old Nevermore professor known for her abilities. Her current place of residence? Six feet under. But that obviously doesn’t daunt Wednesday, and neither does the threatening Latin inscription on Rosaline’s grave: “Be warned. Should my gaze be broken, a deadly trick I will play.”

When Enid accidentally interrupts the spell, she and Wednesday switch bodies, Freaky Friday style. Except the stakes are a little higher — if they don’t find a way to switch back, they’re dead, as promised. How else do you Tim Burton–ify a Lindsay Lohan movie? Since they’re our main characters, the girls just have to “unravel the innermost secrets of the life you’ve stepped into,” in Rosaline’s words, and accept each other for being … born this way.
