Go Full Obamacore With the Hamilton Reunion

As Cynthia Erivo’s introduction made painfully obvious, the Hamilton 10-year reunion at the 2025 Tony Awards was a balm to those who wish to time travel to the Obama administration. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phillipa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., Jonathan Groff, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Daveed Diggs, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Okieriete Onaodowan and Christopher Jackson all came together to take us back to the halcyon days of 2015. To when Miranda could joke that Trump was “never gonna be president” on SNL, and when Soo had no idea what pica was. Wearing Sunset Boulevard-esque theater blacks, the cast performed a medley of “Non-Stop,” “My Shot,” “The Schuyler Sisters,” “You’ll Be Back,” “The Room Where it Happens” and “History Has Its Eyes on You.” Backing them up was a huge coalition of original Hamilton performers, including Ariana DeBose as the Bullet.

At first it seemed like Anthony Ramos pulled a Patti Lupone (not like that) and skipped the 2025 Tonys, but he was in the corps de bullet alongside DeBose. “It was the most heartwarming, beautiful reunion of just 28 people that we love so much in a room,” original cast member and wife of Daveed Diggs Emmy Raver-Lampman told People. “There’s a lot of us that see each other often, and everybody sees each other, but not in this capacity. So, yeah, it was beautiful.” Renée Elise Goldsberry added that when she entered the rehearsal room “tears of joy bubbled up from my soul. We group hugged a million times. We just love each other so much.”
