Château Miraval, what hath you wrought. Lawyers for Brad Pitt filed a motion in court to obtain Angelina Jolie’s private messages, Page Six reports. Pitt wants private communications with Jolie and Alexei Oliynik of Stoli Group. They also want Oliynik to sit for a deposition. It all goes back to the French winery Pitt and Jolie bought together in 2008. When the couple split, Jolie sold her shares in the vineyard and Pitt sued her over it. He claims she didn’t have the right to sell to Stoli (and its Russian oligarch head Yuri Shefler) without his permission. According to Jolie’s legal team, Pitt wouldn’t let her sell without signing an “expansive” NDA about their relationship.

In court docs, Pitt says he’s tried to “meet and confer” with Oliynik to no avail, and that Oliynik couldn’t be compelled to travel from his native Switzerland to California for a deposition. So now he needs his ex-wife’s messages. Earlier this month, Pitt said the finalization of his divorce wasn’t “that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally.” Apparently some things between the two remain without fruition. Legally.
