Are We Getting a Mindhunter Movie?

Long ago, Mindhunter fans resigned themselves to a world without a season 3. All those minds (many of them possibly in LA) left un-hunted, alas! But not so fast, says Holt McCallany. The actor, who played FBI Special Agent Bill Tench, says there might be hope of a Mindhunter movie. Or even movies. Speaking to CBR, McCallany said there’s “just a chance” Netflix will get the gang back together. “I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he said to me that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies, but I think it’s just a chance,” McCallany said. “I know there are writers that that are working, but you know, David has to be happy with scripts.”

Mindhunter started in 2017 and ran for two seasons, in typical Netflix fashion. In 2023, Fincher claimed the show never got a season 3 because Netflix didn’t want to spend what the show cost to make. But three movies is maybe an easier line item to swallow? “I think that in terms of dates and logistics, it could all be worked out,” McCallany said, “but it has to do, you know, with David really having the time and the inclination and being happy, you know, with the material. And, you know, that’s a big question mark.”
