Amitabh Bachchan recalls 42-year-old near-death experience on Coolie Set; pens an emotional message

It has been 42 years since the accident on Coolie movie sets happened. During the shooting of Manmohan Desai and Prayag Raj’s movie, Amitabh Bachchan and Puneet Issar had to perform a fight scene. However, the scene got so intense that instead of falling onto a table, Big B hit the table’s edge and suffered an abdominal injury. The injury was so deep that doctors declared Amitabh clinically dead. The megastar was in critical condition for months until he recovered and returned home on August 2. A lot of Big B fans celebrate that day as his second birthday. The Sholay star wrote, “My love and greetings for all your blessings for the 2nd of August… I am unable to reply to them individually, so accept this as my response. Blessed, I shall make an effort, though time permitting.” A film account shared a video of Amitabh Bachchan returning home after escaping the near-death experience due to the injury on Coolie movie sets. As reported by News18, in a throwback video, the superstar talked about the same and how grateful he was to everyone who prayed for his recovery.

Amitabh Bachchan expressed his deep gratitude to everyone who prayed for him, regardless of their faith or place of worship, whether it was a temple, mosque, or church. Big B acknowledged that he didn’t know many of them personally, yet they prayed for his well-being. The actor conveyed his appreciation and commitment to living up to their expectations, promising to try very hard. In another interview with Stardust, the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham star said that he didn’t know he was going to die. The actor was aware that something was very wrong with him. When the entire period was gone, he was still struggling with life as he was in a state of coma and unconscious. Big B revealed that it was a difficult time for his family but easy for him as he was oblivious to everything that was happening.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in the movie Kalki 2898 AD. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan. Amitabh Bachchan has something to say to his fans as he recalls the Coolie set incident, which left him in a state of coma.
