The Vampire Lestat Is Ready to Bring the House Down

Charli may be the reigning brat, but vampire Lestat de Lioncourt is ready to take up that mantle again. He is the brat prince, after all. While Interview with the Vampire’s next season isn’t set to premiere until 2026, Lestat himself (Sam Reid), Jacob Anderson (Louis de Pointe du Lac), Eric Bogosian (Daniel Molloy), showrunner Rolin Jones, and composer Daniel Hart came together at San Diego Comic-Con to give us a little taste of season three — now officially titled The Vampire Lestat — after the Anne Rice novel of the same name.

After the events of season two, where Molloy publishes his novel of Louis’ account, Lestat is determined to tell his side of the story in the showiest way possible. He’ll be touring across America as a total rockstar, in what Jones teased as a real “Fellini-ass romp.” Reid added that there’s flashes to the 1700s as well. He also made sure to comfort the audience over Loustat, so don’t worry, there’s still “a lot of Louis.”

While season two’s Assad Zaman (Armand) and Delainey Hayles — who played Claudia, Louis and Lestat’s vampire daughter who met a devastating end — were not present at the panel, Jones announced that they both would be returning to season three. “Daniel is pissed at Armand,” Bogosian said. Possibly, Hayles will haunt Lestat from the grave, though it wasn’t confirmed. But she should! And speaking of haunting Lestat, Jones also revealed that Jennifer Ehle has been cast as his mother, Gabriella. Ella Ballentine (as Baby Jenks), Jeanine Serralles (as Christine Claire), Christopher Heyerdahl (as Marius). Damien Atkins will also join the cast as Magnus, Lestat’s elusive and terrifying maker. And that’s not all the casting news: Jones let slip that they’ve found Akasha, who Aaliyah brought to the big screen in 2002’s Queen of the Damned, but didn’t reveal who since the ink on the contract isn’t quite dry yet. Now, all we need is AMC to let us know when we can buy tickets to this tour.
