The 2024 and ’25 theater season comes to a close not with a whimper but a bang, and by “bang” we of course mean Tony Awards host Cynthia Erivo belting her face off. The Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards for Excellence in Broadway are happening on June 8, celebrating the best in Broadway over the past year by handing out awards and featuring performances that will live on forever at gay guys’ YouTube nights. Seriously, Dreamgirls decided to just let Jennifer Holliday wail on “And I Am Telling You” over 40 years ago, and lives are still being changed to this day.
