Spoilers ahead for the latest season of Ginny & Georgia.
She’s free! In some sort of miracle, Georgia (Brianne Howey) has gotten away with it again. Season three of Ginny & Georgia was a courtroom drama, with Georgia being (rightfully) accused of murdering Tom, Cynthia’s husband, and in a surprising turn of events, her son Austin blames it all on his father Gil, and not Georgia. It’s a lot of drama for the viewer to leave up to chance, but thankfully, Netflix had already renewed the show for two seasons; there’s no need to fear an unresolved cliffhanger. The writers are in the room cooking up what’s next for the Miller family before Austin has another growth spurt.
Where does Ginny & Georgia go from here?
A peach is blooming! As we learned in the season three finale, Georgia is pregnant, and it’s unclear if the father is Paul or Joe, since Georgia slept with both of them. Baby Wells incoming? To make matters worse, Georgia’s abusive parents have found out where they live, as they were seen driving by her house in Wellsbury. Creator Sarah Lampert confirms that the upcoming theme is “Cycles and Origins,” so the truth about Georgia’s mother and stepfather and how Georgia came to be Georgia should definitely be front and center for season four. Georgia’s dad did try to warn her that her mother wasn’t telling the full truth about why he went to jail…
As for Ginny, season three has completely changed her. She was plotting behind the scenes in order to get her mom out of jail by blackmailing Cynthia, through her affair with Joe, into framing Gil for the murder. Ginny’s reconnecting with her dad, Zion, as he filed for joint custody of Ginny, and is taking her to Korea for the summer (XO, Kitty crossover, anyone…). Antonia Gentry told Tudum she hopes to see her character totally transform: “Let’s give her some sick braids. She grew over the summer, and she’s ready to do whatever she needs to do to protect her family, because, like, screw everybody else. She comes back from Korea, and she is like, ‘I’m cultured now.’”
The apples don’t fall too far from the tree, as Ginny isn’t the only one who’s different after the court’s settled. Now her baby brother, Austin, is involved because he’s the one who told the court that his father, Gil, killed Tom and not Georgia. Could he get caught in his lie and send his mother back to prison? Or see what else he might be able to get away with? “Once Georgia realizes how her kids manipulated this situation, it’s quite sobering,” Howey explains. “It’s also the final straw that leads Georgia to finally want to go to therapy, to finally break the cycle. She’s now seeing in very real terms what her actions have done to her children, because now her children are re-creating her actions.”
