The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting revealed the winners of the prestigious 70th National Film Awards 2024 on Friday. The winners, including the recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, will be feted by President Droupadi Murmu on October 2024. One look at the winners and it is evident that South Indian films and stars are on the forefront when it comes to the top honours. Awarded for his performance in the film Kantara, Rishab Shetty has been announced the Best Actor, while filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is honored with the Best Director award for the film Uunchai. The Best Actress honour has two actresses, just like last year (Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon) and this year, at the 70th National Film Awards 2024 it is won by Nithya Menen and Mansi Parekh for their outstanding performances in Thiruchitrambalam and Kutch Express respectively. Manoj Bajpayee, who is a force to reckon with on the big screen as well as the OTT space, won a Special Mention award for his direct to OTT film Gulmohar, It is also named the Best Hindi Film.

Additionally, it excelled in the Best Stunt Choreography and Best Action Direction categories. Tamil Excellence – Filmmaker Mani-Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 1 was crowned the Best Tamil film. Previous Winners – At the 69th National Film Awards, stars like Allu Arjun, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, and Pankaj Tripathi shone bright, with films like Rocketry: The Nambi Effect and RRR leading the pack.
